Way up high

I watch and listen

as asteroids whistle

and meteors glisten.

Comets jostle

with shooting stars

and the spinning planets

Venus and Mars.

I'm nestled in silence

like a bird in a tree.

No hustle and bustle,

just the universe and me.

Today is Safer Internet Day. This year's theme is reliability online. In a time when we use the internet and technology so much, it is important that we understand how to use it safely.

You are going to learn more about how we cannot always believe everything we see on the internet. Watch the video below.

What can you trust online? (Film for 5-11 year olds)

Now explore this website. Do you think this story is true or not? What makes you think it is? What makes you think it isn't? If you can, discuss your ideas with an adult. Under the heading 'Online Reliability', write some sentences explaining what you think in your Lockdown Learning book.
You may like to watch the video below which gives further advice and ideas to help you.

Physical Features

Physical features like seas, mountains and rivers are natural. They would be here even if there were no people around. Human features like houses, roads and bridges are things that have been built by people.

Can you spot the human and physical features in the video below?

Google Earth satellite images show physical features such as rivers and mountains. Go to the website hereclick on the search function (magnifying glass icon) and type Somerset, UK. The red outline shows the border of Somerset. Can you spot the beaches?

Use the zoom function (the + button in the bottom right hand corner) to see some of the physical features of Somerset. Are there any hills or rivers? If you zoom in further, can you find the names of some of the features? You may notice that Somerset also has large areas of flat land. In fact, this wetland area, known as the Somerset Levels and Moors, has some of the lowest, flattest land in the UK.

Now you are going to compare Somerset with Valais in Switzerland. Enter Valais, Switzerland in the search box. What do you notice? How is Valais different? Why is there so much white? Can you see the lakes and mountains? If you zoom in, can you spot any glaciers?

Copy and complete the passage on the document below into your Lockdown Learning book. Remember to write the date and title.
