Today I would like you to have a go at consolidating your pictogram knowledge.  We will not be in our WRH books for this!  Below I have attached some extra pictogram files that are not in your books.  Have a go at the sheets to see how well you got on with your pictogram work.

If you do not have a printer, do not worry!  Just work in your yellow book from the questions on the screen.

Literacy

For today we are continuing our Somerset Literacy Network plan on 'The Seven Sisters', please find the story linked below.  

Re-read the first page of the story 'The Seven Sisters', then continue reading to see how the tale ends.

Talk about the following questions and make some notes in your book to share when you go back to school.

• There are several references to the magical nature of Cothelstone Hill. What are they? 
• It is mentioned that the king loved his daughters. Do you think that he behaved in a loving way towards them? Explain why.
• Who is Gaia in the story? Is she real/imaginary? Visible/invisible? Good/bad? Can you think of a character in another story that is like her?
• Is this a happy ending? For everyone? Explain your reasons.
• The Quantocks, Mendips, Blackdowns and Exmoor are all mentioned in the text. Do you know what they refer to?  Can you find them on a map of Somerset?

Reading

I would like you to spend some time every day reading your reading book or any book you are enjoying.  It is great to read to others but it is also good to do some independent reading!  Maybe you could send in some book reviews that we could share on our webpage!

REMEMBER, we now have a great website called GetEpic!  It would be wonderful to see you using that as well!

Read Write Inc

In Read Write Inc we are continuing looking at our new unit, this is unit 10 focussing on adding the prefix re-, it is on page 45-48.  But today I would like you to just work on page 45 and complete the Spelling Zone activity.  Try not to skip ahead to other activities as it is important to do a little bit every day.  Tomorrow we shall be looking at dots and dashes and word changers.

RE

Today we are continuing new AMV RE unit 1 -What do Jewish people believe about God and the Covenant and Torah? 

Today's lesson is about the Jewish holy book, The Torah.  The Torah is a very holy book for people of the Jewish faith, and it contains the five books of Moses, the laws for Jews (including the Ten Commandments) and ancient stories. 

Your activity today is to create your own scroll and to try to write some Hebrew letters.  Please see below a picture of the Hebrew alphabet.  Do you notice any letters in our alphabet that do not appear in the Hebrew alphabet?
