Welcome back everyone! Our new quest this term is called 'Celebrate and Commemorate'. Last week as our Entry Point we shared events that we have celebrated, with our class and some children from Dahl class.
Celebrate and Commemorate
We made carnival headdresses and had a carnival parade - what fun!
We went on a walk on a lovely, sunny afternoon looking for signs of Autumn. Look what we found!!
Today is 'No pens Wednesday'. We have had Forest School, where we went on a bear hunt! In Maths we played board games. In Literacy we listened to stories, looked at poems and played rhyming bingo. We listened to the story 'The day the crayons quit' by Drew Daywalt.
We made apple crumble. The children loved rubbing together the sugar, butter and flour with their (clean) hands! Sorry about the lack of photos, my hands were dirty...!
As part of Book Week we have had an activity day today. Ahlberg, Donaldson, Rosen and Tomlinson class all mixed up into groups and spent the day looking at different traditional tales. In Rosen class we looked at The Gingerbread Man.
We were thinking about Bonfire Night and Guy Fawkes and we made some firework pictures. We also made our own 'bonfire'.
Over the next 2 weeks we will be thinking about The Nutcracker. We found a video for the music of 'The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' from The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky. Here is a link
Take a look on the headteachers Blog for some fab pictures of our nativity - A Miracle in Town.
Our Quest this term is 'Here be Treasure'. Ask your child what we have been doing in class. Can they show you something new on the classroom walls?
Next week we will be making pancakes. We have been learning an action song, can you join in at home? What topping would you like on pancakes?
Rosen, Donaldson and Tomlinson classes went on a trip to the Museum of Somerset. We were 'Digging deep in the Bronze Age' to enrich our topic work.
Today, just like in the Autumn, we went on a nature walk. We were looking for the sights, sounds and smells of Spring.
We will be thinking about habitats, as part of our new Quest, 'There's no place like home'. This video has been released by the RSPB to highlight the loss of birds in our country, mostly due to loss of their natural habitats.
A lovely day was had by all at Killerton
Well done to all our Year 2 children for trying so hard with their SATs. We had ice creams to celebrate! Photo to follow....
