Maths Extension

For your maths extension today, I would like you to create your own board game to help you to memorise your times-tables.  This board game might be based on one that already exists or it could be completely your own invention.  I would love to see them, please send pictures of them to out learningathome.034 email address.

You can also go onto MathShed and practice your times-tables and their inverse.

Click here for a link to the website, you log in through Edshed.

Your username and password should be in the front of your BHBOAE book.  If you cannot remember your username and password, please give me an email on learningathome.034@educ.somerset.gov.uk and I shall find it for you!

Literacy

Wednesday

On a Wednesday we will be working for our Collins English Workbooks.

In your folders some of you have a book with a white sticker on the front.  Sticker and non-sticker groups will have a different page number and may spend some time on different areas.

Today I would like the white sticker group to work on page 40-41 looking at finding meaning with a text.  Remember to read it carefully to help you understand what the text is saying.

Today I would like the no sticker group to work on page 24-25 looking at fact retrieval.

The second part of today's activity is to practice your handwriting on the attached sheets.  There are 11 sheets, do not worry, just have a go at 1-2 today and we shall do the rest over the coming weeks.  If you do not have a printer  you can practice these straight into your yellow exercise book.  Remember, we use the Nelson Handwriting style.  See video below for help on this.

Read Write Inc

For your spelling’s today, I would like you to have someone at home test you on the spellings that you have been practicing from unit 6!  You can always give me an email to let me know how you did on your test!

We always do the test on the top of the page for the next unit, for today this is page 28 and it is right at the top under speed spell.

Then afterwards have a look at our new spellings.

This week we are now on unit 7 and our spellings are looking at words with the c sound spelt ch.

They are -

school

echo

character

chaos

stomach

anchor

Why not have a go at writing them out as a poster and then hanging the poster somewhere in your house, so that you can keep practicing them!

Reading

I would like you to spend some time every day reading your reading book or any book you are enjoying.  It is great to read to others but it is also good to do some independent reading!  Maybe you could send in some book reviews that we could share on our webpage!

REMEMBER, we now have a great website called GetEpic!  It would be wonderful to see you using that as well!

Science

Today we are continuing our science unit all about light.  For today's lesson we are going to be looking at reflective surfaces.  There is a PowerPoint attached below helping to explain, it also includes some small activities for investigation.  The main activity today will be designing a school bag which will help to reflect light.  All the files needed are attached below.
