Wednesday 27th January

Wednesday 27th January

This week we are continuing to look at multiplication and division. We are currently following the White Rose Hub units.

Today's lesson is actually a practical lesson.  As division in this context is so new, we are going to spend a lot of time going over this and revising.  So when you have finished today's video lesson have a go at the printed multiplication and division booklet that was inside of your blue folder.  Use your new found knowledge of how to do these calculations to help you!  We will also be doing this style of lesson tomorrow, so save some of the booklet for then too!

The main focus of today's lesson is - Divide 100 into 2, 4, 5 and 10 equal parts.

Spr3.2.5 - Divide 100 into 2, 4, 5 and 10 equal parts

Maths Extension

For your maths extension today, I would like you to go onto MathShed and practice your times-tables and their inverse.

Click here for a link to the website, you log in through Edshed.

On a Wednesday we will be working for our Collins English Workbooks.

In your folders some of you have a book with a white sticker on the front.  Sticker and non-sticker groups will have a different page number and may spend some time on different areas.

Today I would like the white sticker group to work on page 96-97 looking at the present tense.  Remember to read it carefully to help you understand what the text is saying.

Today I would like the no sticker group to work on page 90-91 on present perfect form of verbs.

The second part of today's activity is to practice your handwriting on the attached sheets.  You started these last week so continue through the ones you did not get to.  If you do not have a printer  you can practice these straight into your yellow exercise book.  Remember, we use the Nelson Handwriting style.  Last week I attached the 1st and 2nd join videos, this week I will attach the 3rd and 4th join videos.

Read Write Inc

For your spelling’s today, I would like you to have someone at home test you on the spellings that you have been practicing from unit 7!  You can always give me an email to let me know how you did on your test!

We always do the test on the top of the page for the next unit, for today this is page 32 and it is right at the top under speed spell.

Then afterwards have a look at our new spellings.

This week we are now on unit 8 and our spellings are looking at words with the sh sound spelt ch.

They are -

Why not have a go at writing them out as a poster and then hanging the poster somewhere in your house, so that you can keep practicing them!

I would like you to spend some time every day reading your reading book or any book you are enjoying.  It is great to read to others but it is also good to do some independent reading!  Maybe you could send in some book reviews that we could share on our webpage!

REMEMBER, we now have a great website called GetEpic!  It would be wonderful to see you using that as well!

Today we are going to be moving through the timeline of Prehistoric Britain. Below I have attached a timeline of this period.  Have a go at sorting it and putting the dates in the right order.

The Stone Age then developed into the Bronze Age through the discovery of metal.  Below is a PowerPoint and Bronze Age fact cards.  There is also attached a fact finding sheet.  have a go at looking through these and discovering new information about this time period.  You can then write the information on the fact finding sheet.  Have fun!
