Week 2 Thursday 13th January

Thursday 13th January

In maths today we are working on the 2 times-table.

Below is the video of today's lesson.  Have a watch and then try the activity linked below.  I have also put in the answers to mark your work when you are finished.

Aut3.9.4 - 2 times-table

Today we are going to be working on our grammar.  One thing we need to keep working on is our use of there, their and they're (homophones).  I have linked below a worksheet and a PowerPoint for you to complete.  Maybe copy up the sentences from the worksheet.  That way you can be practicing your handwriting too!

You could also look at  homophones in general.  What is the definition of a homophone?

Write down some you already know.

Here are some other homophones for you to look at and find the difference in their meaning.

here or hear

see or sea

where or wear

bear or bare

I or eye

break or brake

I would like you to spend some time every day reading your reading book or any book you are enjoying.  It is great to read to others but it is also good to do some independent reading!  Maybe you could send in some book reviews that we could share on our webpage!

Today we are looking our new unit 13 spellings.  As always they will be updated on the spelling tab on the front of our class webpage.

We are currently looking at magnets and how strong they are.  Now I understand that you might not have access to magnets at home, so what I would like you to d is to do some research all about magnets.  Watch some clips on Espresso or BBC Bitesize, there are even some clips on YouTube, but make sure an adult always helps you with this.  Maybe put all of your research into a poster or a leaflet!
