Week 6 Thursday 17th February

Thursday 17th February

Maths

In maths today we are looking at multiplying 2-digits by 1-digit - no exchange.

Below is the video of today's lesson.  Have a watch and then try the activity linked below.  I have also put in the answers to mark your work when you are finished.

Spr3.1.5 - Multiply 2-digits by 1-digit (1)

Literacy

Today we are continuing to look at, 'The Truth About Trolls'.

Today's task is to complete the activity on page 13 - Drop-In Game.

In this task you will be looking at relative clauses (parenthesis).  This is where you are adding information into a sentence using commas each side of the information.  Now, I know that this is quite a new concept so do not worry if you are not quite understanding this, we will spend more time on this when you are back in school.

Reading

I would like you to spend some time every day reading your reading book or any book you are enjoying.  It is great to read to others but it is also good to do some independent reading!  Maybe you could send in some book reviews that we could share on our webpage!

Spellings

Today we are looking our new unit 18 spellings.  As always they will be updated on the spelling tab on the front of our class webpage.

Science

Today we are starting our new science unit all about light.  For today's lesson we are going to be looking at what gives out light (this is called a light source) and what just simply reflects light.

What doe reflecting light mean?  This means that the object does not make light itself, it simply has light bounce (reflect) off of it!

Click here for a video on Espresso all about light.  This will help you with today's work.

Your task it to discover as many different sources of light that you can!  You need to draw and explain each source of light.  Please also try to put next to them which light sources are natural and which ones are man-made (for example a TV is man-made).

As an extension, why not also think of different objects which reflect light!  Create a page for them, again thinking about which are natural and which are man-made.

Which of the pictures below are light sources or reflectors?

Extension - which sources are natural and which are man-made?
