Monday
This week we are reading lots of different tongue twisters and poems. They are called tongue twisters because they are very hard to say correctly! We twist our tongues in trying to get the words out! Use the resources below to have a go and read.
Do we get better at twisting our tongues around the words?! Re-read Joe’s Banjo and point out how we read unfamiliar words because we can guess at the sounds. This is one advantage of a tongue twister!
Tuesday 20th July
Today we are going to look at nursery rhymes that have gone wrong! Attached at the bottom of the page are some bizarre nursery rhymes: Hickory Dickory Dock, Mary had a Little Lamb, Humpty Dumpty, Incy Wincy Spider, Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat. Can you work out how each one has changed?
Have a go at reciting the original rhyme for each. How many other nursery rhymes do you know?
Have a think about ideas for how you might change one of these to make it unusual and also funny!
]There was an old woman who lived in a shoe, can you think of a place the old woman could live and follow on with their ideas, or give them the new first line which ends with ‘hole’. Can you think of a word that rhymes with hole?
Have a go at making some changes to some nursery rhymes you know. The sillier the better!
