This week we continue to learn about the story by Tom Percival, The Invisible. You can listen to the story by clicking the link here.
After you have read the story have a think are there any invisible children in our class? Can you draw a picture and label how you could include these children who may be invisible at playtime and lunchtimes?
If you need any ideas think aboout friendship stops, buddy benches or team and group games that could be played.
Today in English we are thinking about the characters go back to the story from yesterday and pause the clip on the pages where the man is feeding the birds click the link Mary Poppins and share and discuss the lyrics.
Using one of two of the pictures from the story a cut out a character or collection of characters and write a sentence about each. If time choose another character to write about. Remember sentence rules, capital letters to start a sentence and a full stop to end it.
Discuss the word stray. Identify the animals and discuss why they may be stray.
Explore the work of the RSPCA
Discuss the word together – what do we do together?
Look at how Isabel regains her colour as you go across the pages towards the end of the book.
Can you write a list of all the ways that they are helping each other.
Can you now think of things we do to help each other in school. What do you do to help at home?
Now draw and label a picture of yourself helping at home, what jobs do you help with?
Tidying bedroom, putting out recycling, feeding pets?
Can you write a sentence below your picture to explain what your job entails.
Using the clip above pause the clip on the final pages 27 – 28 (Vibrant street)
Isabel had made a difference – what does that mean?.
Look closely at the final page. Can you find Isabel, her dog? Her parents? All the Invisibles? Old lady? Man? Boy?
What are the other people doing?
How do they all feel?
Why has Tom included butterflies in the top right of the pages?
Talk about butterflies – life cycle – symbol of good things to come.
Look at the life cycle of a butter fly powerpoint below and then complete the life cycle by cutting out pictures and sticking them in the right order.
This term in RE we are learning all about the Jewish faith. Using the powerpoint below read all about the special book Jewish people read to follow their faith. Then can you fill in the blank spaces in the sentences with the right words from the keyword box.
