Pupil Premium
At Bishop’s Hull Primary School, we are committed to raising the achievement, progress, ambition and wider development of disadvantaged pupils by narrowing the gap between their outcomes and those of their peers from more advantaged backgrounds.
Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is a government initiative which targets extra money towards pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Research shows that pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds underachieve compared to their peers. Pupil Premium funding is provided to enable these pupils to be supported to reach their potential.
At Bishop’s Hull the priorities for our Pupil Premium spending are targeted interventions focusing on those curriculum objectives that pupils in receipt of the funding need to work on:
improving phonics and reading attainment
diminishing the academic attainment gap at the end of Key Stage 2
improving emotional health
reducing the gap in attendance between Pupil Premium and Non-Pupil Premium pupils.
Throughout the school year we track our pupils through pupil progress meetings. Using data collected, we are able to work strategically to close gaps for these pupils using the funds available. The effectiveness of the interventions funded by Pupil Premium is looked at in detail and actions are drawn up to help accelerate progress.
