Safeguarding

The safety of our pupils is paramount.

At Bishop’s Hull Primary School we take our duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children extremely seriously.

Safeguarding our pupils

'Safeguarding is Everyone's Responsibility'

If you have a concern about a child's welfare or worry that they are being abused,

please contact one of the safeguarding team in school.

You can also ring 999 if a child is in immediate danger.

At Bishop’s Hull Primary School, we are committed to ensuring the safety and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils in our school. We believe that all pupils have the right to learn in an environment that caters for their needs, removes barriers and protects them from all types of abuse. Our staff are vigilant and proactive when responding to welfare concerns for our pupils and are trained to use safeguarding and child protection procedures, when required, to keep children safe. If you have a concern, you can speak to any member of staff, or ask for someone from the safeguarding team.

Our safeguarding team comprises of Kerry Exon as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Kate Moore and Abbie Harman as Designated Deputies.

We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Staff: Our recruitment and selection processes are rigorous and comply with statutory guidance. All staff and applicable volunteers are cleared by the DBS. All staff receive regular, high-quality training and are aware of safeguarding and child protection issues and responsibilities.

Pupils: We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. On rare occasions, a concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies before we contact their family. Pupils feel they are in a safe place and that their concerns will be listened to. We closely monitor attendance and behaviour as part of our safeguarding procedures.

Security: The school site is protected by security fencing and there are procedures and policies in place to keep our pupils safe. The school has a signing in system for all visitors and all external doors are controlled by an electronic access system. Contractors on site are monitored. We hold termly fire drills.
