Dear Parents/Carers
What a wonderful week it has been in school! Our Parents’ Evenings have been a real highlight and it was fantastic to see so many of you coming in, celebrating your children’s achievements and speaking with staff. The atmosphere across both evenings was fantastic; thank you for your commitment, your time, and your ongoing support. It really does make such a difference.
A huge thank you as well to everyone who completed our Breakfast Club survey. Your feedback was incredibly helpful and we’re pleased to share that from after Easter, we will begin offering toast and cereal to all pupils attending Breakfast Club at no additional cost. This is something many of you said would make the club even better and we’re delighted to make it happen. More details will follow after half term.
You’ll also see below the upcoming Parent Engagement opportunities. Many of you told us you wanted more chances to be involved in your children’s learning and experiences in school—you said and we listened. We’re really looking forward to welcoming you into school more often.
Wishing you all a lovely, restful half term. We hope you enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back afterwards.
Warm regards,
Mrs Kerry Exon

📚✨ World Book Day – 5th March! ✨📚
We are excited about the upcoming World Book Day on Thursday 5th March and we have a fantastic day of book‑themed fun planned for all our children!
Throughout the day, classes will take part in an exciting rotation of activities, each one inspired by a different book. This will give the children a chance to listen to a range of stories, meet new characters and take part in some exciting activities.
To make the day even more special, we invite all children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. They can choose a hero, a villain, a fairy‑tale figure, or someone wonderfully silly, we can’t wait to see their creativity! Children should also be ready to talk about their chosen character—why they like them, what makes them special or what story they come from. This is a wonderful chance to build confidence, celebrate reading and inspire their friends.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic day packed with imagination, storytelling and a love of books.
Thank you for your support in making World Book Day magical for our school community!
Forest School
At Forest School, Dormouse Class were very lucky to see a break in the rain and made the most of the dry session to make cereal bird treat hangers, as well as using the mud kitchen to make pancakes. The children practised their pancake flipping skills with cardboard pancakes and had lots of fun being active on the swing as well with the wheelbarrows and rakes.
Dormouse Class had a fantastic time learning all about pancakes
This week, the children explored how pancakes are made and, of course, enjoyed the best part—tasting them. They carefully chose their own toppings and added them independently, with close supervision.
We also learnt a fun “Mix a Pancake” rhyme and wrote our own step‑by‑step instructions for making pancakes. Alongside this, the class took part in a variety of pancake‑themed activities which the children enjoyed engaging in.
Visit from Deane Vets
Dormouse class had an exciting visitor last week. Becky from Deane Vets came to talk to the children about her work as a vet. The children asked her lots of super questions and had fun exploring the X-rays and artefacts she had brought in to show them. They also learnt how to stay safe around dogs.
Museum of Somerset – Monmouth Rebellion
Year 6 visited the museum yesterday to learn more about and find out how the Monmouth Rebellion impacted life in Taunton. The children had the opportunity to participate in role play, create some engraved Rebellion playing cards and visit the section of the museum dedicated to the Monmouth Rebellion. The children were very inquisitive, with the workshop leader commenting on how engaging the children were. The children enjoyed the day and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to bring the Monmouth Rebellion to life.
