Dear Parents/Carers

It has been wonderful to see the launch of our new free after‑school clubs this week. These clubs are an important part of our really strong school offer; I know from our parent survey that families wanted more opportunities for your children to enjoy enriching activities after school. It has been fantastic to see how much the children are embracing them. They are arriving with excitement, trying new things, and ending each session full of pride. Listening to our families and working in partnership with you is one of the many ways we continue to grow from strength to strength as a school; we are looking forward to building in more engaging opportunities as time goes by.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks for your strong commitment to attendance, particularly during the recent flooding that made journeys challenging for many. Your resilience and determination ensured that learning continued and it has made a real difference. As we all know, every day of learning matters. National data shows clear links between attendance and achievement: missing just one day every two weeks can add up to nearly a month of lost learning over a school year and pupils with attendance above 95% are far more likely to make strong academic progress and reach age‑related expectations.

Thank you for everything you do to support routines, readiness, and positivity around school. By working together, we can ensure every child continues to flourish and make the most of every learning opportunity.

Warm regards,

Mrs Kerry Exon

Headteacher

Year 4 Visit to The Museum of Somerset

Our Year 4 children had a fantastic visit to the Museum of Somerset this week. They took part in engaging Roman workshops where they handled real artefacts, explored a Roman trail through the museum and even dressed up as Romans for the day!  The children especially enjoyed discovering the fascinating artefacts found in Somerset and learning more about life in the past.

We would also like to say a big thank you to Ridlers for kindly supplying our coach free of charge which kept us dry and comfortable on such a rainy day!

Year 3 & Year 4 Invasion Festival

Years 3 and 4 recently enjoyed an exciting morning at Taunton and Somerset College to take part in invasion games, which included a range of sports skills linked to basketball, volleyball and netball.

The event was brilliantly led by the staff and college students, including some of our own former pupils, which made the morning feel extra special.

Our children had a fantastic time learning new skills, teamwork, and working with older students who were wonderful role models.

A huge thank you to Taunton and Somerset College for hosting such an engaging experience for us.

Parental Engagement

We’re looking at new ways to get parents even more involved in children’s learning and have a range of exciting activities planned. Dates are being finalised and will be shared with you in the next Blue Beacon

We can’t wait to welcome you and share these with you soon.
